Key Lime Interactive (June 2023-Present)

About KLI

Key Lime Interactive is a Customer Experience (CX) and User Experience (UX) research, strategy, and design services agency focused on helping companies take a human-first approach to building better brand experiences, products, and services.

About my role

As a UX Researcher, I work closely with clients’ design, research, and product teams to plan and complete research that actively impacts product decisions.

In my time at KLI, I have used a variety of remote and in-person research methods and have owned and completed upwards of 40 client projects.

My clients and peers have hailed me for my attention to detail and partner-driven collaborative style. I’ve utilized a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method methodologies to help clients achieve user-driven insights that inform product decisions and development. I’ve collaborated closely with cross-functional client teams, including designers, product managers, and engineers, and have worked on projects as a solo researcher and as a research team as a lead researcher.

“Brein demonstrates a high degree of self-discipline and motivation with work. She is a "go-getter." It is evident to others at KLI that she is an inspired UXer who believes in the impact of her research activities, both directly in the project at hand and indirectly in the world at large. She brings enthusiasm, vision, and creative thinking to all of her tasks.”

Primary Methods Used

IDIs

The majority of remote studies that I’ve led have been formatted as 1:1 interviews in which I design a study protocol, engage in recruitment (eg. UserInterviews), and complete fielding and analysis to produce insights for the client team. These IDIs sometimes include quantitative data using Likert scales which is used to bolster the qualitative findings.

Survey Design

I have experience designing surveys using tools like SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics to produce quick, mixed-method data from larger pools of respondents than can often be reached from other methods like IDIs.

Usability & Concept Testing

The two go hand-in-hand but I understand the importance of understanding the research objectives and setting up studies to reach the goals of the product team. My usability studies involve a variety of task-based objectives while my concept testing usually involves lower-stake preference testing and/or user perceptions.

Small & Large Pool Sampling

Depending on the goals and timeline of my client I’m able to accurately advocate for the extent of outreach needed to reach the main objectives and suggest methods accordingly to reach audiences in the best way possible.

The most recent tool in my tool belt, I’ve conducted in-person intercept studies in which I traveled to sites to intercept participants as they engaged with a product in the real world and was able to glean in-the-moment contextual perceptions that impact user engagement.

Unmoderated IDIs

Using tools like UserTesting I’ve designed and analyzed numerous unmoderated studies that get my clients quick answers to simple questions and set the course for immediate action and development.

Campus Outreach: Passion Project

Upon starting with KLI, I led an initiative dubbed Campus Outreach which gave members of our team the opportunity to mentor young UXers by sponsoring semester-long projects for the Purdue University UX Program.

Through this initiative, I have been able to engage with emerging UXers to offer expertise in the realm of design, research, strategy, and storytelling. This incredibly rewarding opportunity was a passion project of mine as I believe it is an honor to be able to uplift young professionals and give them access to real-world problems and experience.
